        Finding A Good Christian                        Publisher!

Publishers Are Publishers

Does It Really Matter If They Are Christian Or Not?

The Answer Is YES,  It Matters!

All publishers want to publish books that will bring them a profit with sales.  A christian publisher wants that also, but he also wants stories that inspire the readers & bring glory to God.

A traditional publish might ask you to cut back on the religious content as not to offend some readers, they may ask you to add some content you don't want to add, that goes against your beliefs but would attract more readers to your story, so you must choose carefully and pray for Gods wisdom in this area.  A Christian publisher usually has a Mission statement of what they believe and what goals they are wanting to achieve to glorify God.

What to consider when choosing a Christian Publisher

A good quality book design department

Professional editing

Complete retention of your publishing right

Do they distribute to major marketplaces, like Amazon, Barnes & Noble

Do they publish in multiple formats- Paperback, E-book

Do they off publicity to promote you book

ans last, but not least, how is their royalty program

how much can you expect to make and what percentage will they get from your book.

A Christian publisher should be committed to publishing books that inspire, and lift people up, while sharing the gospel too.  They too want to make a profit , but they are not just interested in making money, but to glorify God in the process!

* As with any publisher, check them out fully , see what ratings they have from people who have used them before you sign a contract.

Should Editors, Beta Readers, & Proof-readers also be Christian?

I would say yes because they being Christian will be able to tell you how the book will go over with your readers , find grammar mistakes, scriptures that don't fit into your story, where it needs polishing so it will be accepted by a Christian publisher. Christian editors, beta readers, and proof readers will be more sensitive to your story because of their christian background they will more understand what you are trying to say to the reader of your book.
